Kim Francis is a contemporary sculptor working predominantly in stone.
She first trained as a Jeweller at Central St Martins, London.
Her practice evolved from body adornment to sculpture, through working in bronze casting foundries in the U.K, and the USA. Kim is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors.
Her passion for carving began with explorations in wood, wax and snow, but it was the integrity and nobility of stone that stole her heart, and that allowed her to exploit and explore her forms.
Her work shows a devotion to line and form, inspired by the innate elegance of the natural world,
She plays on her fascination with the flux and flow of the phenomenal world, ans our apparently linear, but convoluted experience of time.
“Kim Francis has a sensitivity to the medium and creates pieces that demonstrate her understanding of the vitality and sensuality of the natural world.”
Kim Francis lives and works in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire.
